Veterinary Medical Manipulation -VMM

People go to the Chiropractor and pets go to a Veterinary Medical Manipulation Practitioner!

We motion every joint – feet, limbs and the spine.

HVLA: High Velocity Low Amplitude movement to move the joint back into alignment – it’s a very quick low power twitch that doesn’t look like much but does a lot!  Most of the time you will not hear a pop, except for the toes.  Those usually pop!

Everyday activity, especially high energy activity, can cause muscle tension, tendon and ligament strain which in turn pull the bones out of alignment causing further strain on the muscles, tendons and ligaments, ultimately causing pain.  There is also an impact on the nervous system which can either be the cause or the strain can cause impairment which can lead to many different disease processes.

Nerve receptors are in high numbers along the spine as expected as the spinal cord sends nerves out between the vertebral bodies.  If pinched by the bones it hurts!

Who can benefit?   Everyone!

  • Arthritis pets
  • Sporting or working dogs
  • Previously injured pets, even old injuries
  • Skin lesions like wrist and ankle Acryl Lick Granulomas

How fast does it work?

  • Pets can feel the difference immediately!  Owner see it immediately too!
  • Skin lesions can take up to 6 weeks or more to resolve
  • Muscle atrophy about 6 weeks

PRP/Stem Cell

PRP

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

  • Concentrated Platelets which have alpha-granules that contain growth factors and anti-inflammatory cytokines (proteins) that once injected they degranulate and release these healing proteins.
  • Attracts helpful Monocytes
  • Removes Red Blood Cells and harmful Neutrophils
  • Initiate and accelerate tendon, ligament, and cartilage repair and regeneration
  • Decrease inflammatory mediators in Osteoarthritis
  • Reduce pain and improve articular function in Osteoarthritis
  • Enhances the recruitment, proliferation, and differentiation of cells involved in tissue regeneration – They attract stem cells!
  • Fibrin for matrix/ scaffold

Used for

  • Hip Dysplasia
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Elbow Dysplasia
  • Ligament injuries
  • Tendon injuries
  • Burn Wounds
  • Open Wounds
  • Spinal injuries

Stem Cell

Mesenchymal Stem Cells, MSCs, are harvested from tissues such as adipose tissue or bone marrow in Veterinary patients. These cells are plastic‐adherent, fibroblast‐like cells capable of high proliferation and tri‐lineage differentiation 2021. MSCs can inhibit T‐cell proliferation, alter B‐cell function, downregulate MHC II on antigen presenting cells and inhibit dendritic cell maturation and differentiation 22232425.

Autologous Stem Cells, ASCs, obtained from the patient, have shown promise for cell‐based therapeutics in veterinary medicine 1. The benefits of autologous ASCs include that they are non-immunogenic, safe in humans and animals, and have been used clinically for nearly a decade with no significant adverse reactions reported other than transient fever in humans, occasional transfusion reactions in cats.

Treatment of Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis ,FCGS, with autologous ASCs resulted in cure or substantial clinical improvement in 71% of cats!  This is tremendous as the usual treatment is to remove all the teeth!  While some may need to be extracted as they are too far gone, some may not need to be with Stem Cell Therapy!

At 6 months (the formal end of the study), 4/7 cats (57%) responded to treatment with substantial clinical improvement. Two of these 4 cats exhibited progressive improvement and complete cure at 18–20 months after ASC treatment (Figs. (Figs.1C,1C, C,3A,3A, A,3B).3B). Three cats had either minimal or no clinical response.

We are also treating Arthritis and other joint disease as well as Kidney disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, IBD, and Cystitis is cats!

There is much we still have to learn and feel that many other disease processes will benefit from
